Science Museum
The Science Museum was originally founded as part of the South Kensington Museum in 1857. Today, its exhibits feature a collection of scientific, technological, and medical achievements from around the world.
Kids will enjoy the WonderLab, which provides hands-on experiences as well as tours for children 7 and above, to learn and explore various subjects of science. Exhibits include full-sized steam engines, the evolution of human flight, development of medicine, renewable energy and more, as well as the exciting IMAX 3D Experience (views from the International Space Station) and Flight Simulator.
If you are in a hurry, join the highlight tours run by volunteers for a comprehensive look at their galleries. There are events and other activities happening year round, such as ‘Lates’ which are themed night openings (18:45-22:00) for adults on the last Wednesday of every month (except December).
Admission is free. However, for the IMAX Theatre, Flight Simulators and special exhibitions are ticketed.
The Museum is open 10:00 to 18:00 (last entry at 17:15) daily, except for 24 to 26 December. Closing time is 19:00 during school holidays (last entry 18:15), except for Lates Wednesday (closes at 18:00).
To get there, travel by tube to South Kensington Station via the Circle and District or Piccadilly Line.
