Expensive and elegant
Boutique Hotel Marussia. The hotel is in a wooden house with cosy rooms and a decent breakfast. Church of the Saviour 5 minutes’ walk away. From $122 for a double junior suite with breakfast.
Courtyard Marriott Irkutsk City Centre. Four-star and standard quality of the well-known chain. Guests like the breakfast, but do not approve of the paid Wi-Fi. From $163 for a double room with breakfast.
International Hotel Sayen. Four-star hotel with new rooms and impeccable service. Proud of its Japanese spa. From $150 for a double room with breakfast.
Reasonable and affordable
Hotel Imperiya. Modern three-star hotel with small rooms and a decent breakfast. The attic rooms on the 5th floor are stuffy. From $70 for a double room with breakfast.
Hotel Irkutsk. A pleasant three-star hotel on the banks of the river with beautiful views. There is a gym, a spa and a good restaurant. From $80 for a double room with breakfast.
Hotel Angara. The rooms are old-fashioned and overpriced, but the staff speaks Chinese and it has a good travel organisation centre. From $90 for a double room with breakfast.
Kupechesky Dvor. Picturesque hotel with walls lined with timbers, in the tourist “Quarter 130”. Nearby are a lot of cafes, noisy at night. From $90 for a double room with breakfast.
Cheap and cheerful
Hotel Irkut. Budget “two-star” in the quiet centre, freshly renovated and with responsive staff. However, the soundproofing is poor. From $45 for a double room.
Mini Hotel London Eye. 5 stylish rooms and a homely atmosphere in the centre of the city. From $40 for a double room.
Hotel Matryoshka. Decent two-star hotel near the market. Noisy, but near everything. From $45 for a double room with breakfast.
Super-economy
Irkutsk Hostel. A modest homely hostel right in the city centre. The furniture hardly dazzles with its novelty, but for this price you can put up with it. From $27 for a double room with private bathroom, from $8 for a bed in an eight-bed room.
Baikal Story Hostel. Newly decorated and friendly service. Lots of foreigners. Wi-Fi at times not enough for everyone. From $33 for a room with a shared bathroom, $7 for a bed in a ten-bed room.
Dobry Kot. Colourful hostel with friendly staff. 10 minutes’ walk from the station. From $27 for a double room with shared bath, $9 for a bed in a six-person room.
